National Osteoporosis Foundation : « NOF responds to meta-analysis review of vitamin D supplements and prevention of osteoporosis »

« A recently published article in The Lancet references a large meta-analysis suggesting that taking vitamin D supplements does not improve bone mineral density at the total hip, spine, forearm or in the body as a whole in healthy adults. The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) believes that the U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) has already exhaustively and systematically reviewed and meta-analyzed the body of evidence that has led to the scientific understanding of the relationship between calcium and vitamin D and bone health published in 2007 and 2009. «
