Maintaining a healthy diet during the COVID-19 pandemic

“First and foremost, everyone is encouraged to follow World Health Organization (WHO) and governmental advice to protect against COVID-19 infection and transmission.”

To maintain healthy diets, FAO encourages everyone to:

1. Eat a variety of foods within each food group and across all the food groups
2. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables
3. Consume a diet rich in whole grains, nuts, and healthy fats such as in olive, sesame, peanut or other oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids
4. Watch your intake of fats, sugar, and salt
5. Continue to practice good food hygiene
6. Drink water regularly
7. Limit consumption of alcohol
